For the Ainu, Japan’s indigenous people primarily found in Hokkaido, nature is an object of admiration; in every tree resides a god. As an expression of the importance of benefiting from nature, traditional Ainu houses utilize wood not just for the structural framework, but also for roofs and walls made from tree bark, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
Through its architectural style, One Niseko embodies this philosophy of coexisting with nature. The Ainu-inspired eaves at the front of the building are crafted from raw wood, gently welcoming guests in harmony with the surrounding environment.
